hey guys was needing some help, a friend of mine has a 2000 Electra glide fuel injected magnetic marelli. bike ran like **** so he took it off and put a carb on it simple s&s super E . I proceed to tell him there's more involved than that..after several attempts with no start he buys a thunder heart stand alone ignition. it utilizes a switched power and the crank sensor and comes with a single fire coil he has fire ,fuel, and air but still no start could it be that the cam sensor isn't being used? any ideas would greatly help
Copied this from another site hoping it might help your friend:
Switching from MM to Carb is fairly easy.. off-hand parts needed.. Carb, intake, Pingle petcock, air cleaner, fuel hose.
In general.. remove fuel pump and parts from fuel tank, install Pingle adapter and Petcock Remove MM throttle body, install intake and carb Take all wiring connections used for MM and tuck under tank or remove. Leave Head Temp connection intact. (from memory) remove pin 6 from ECM connector so check engine lite stays off.
external or stand alone ignition isn't needed. ECM will still take care of that.
