There is a mounting plate that attaches right to the top of the filter. It has the center bolt and 5 arms reaching out in the shape of a star. The chrome cover then attaches to the plate using the 5 mounting points shown in the pic.

O.K. HERE'S MINE,AND IT'S THE BEST ONE OUT OF ALL OF THEM CAUSE I MADE IT,NO STORE BOUGHT CRAP.MADE ON MY CNC MACHINE AND BRIDGEPORT.

Might be a dumb question but.... I did the same thing (got rid of the football and just ran an open K&N with a cover on the front part leaving the filter exposed) on my carburated 00 fatboy. Can I do the same thing on my fuel injected Ultra w/o doing a remap. Also in a heavy downpour of rain what affect would this have with water getting in the filter? Thanks
