36mm socketcan pick up at auto parts store Walmart
Able to read and follow instruction in written form. nice pictures.
About 2 hours to install.
That should do it.
Don't forget the torque wrench. BTW, Harbor Freight Tools has an excellent and accurate 1/2-drive torque wrench on sale for $10. Sears has a 36mm socket for $9.
It's about 10 min. to install the IDS hub to the wheel, another hour to remove and re-install the wheel, more if you must remove mufflers on bikes with 13" shocks.
This is all assuming the bearing was pressed to the pulley ahead of time.
EL,
I recomend you just order it from zanottimotor.com for the cost of 198.25 (USD) plus shipping.
Their a HD dealer inPennslvania and they will also press the bearing in for you for12 more dollars.
Your independent guy can do the install easily. Its the same job as changing your rear tire or sprocket.
Labor time should be the exact same as a tire replacement. No special tools are needed by your mechanic as long as yougetZanotti HD to press the bearing in for you. You should come out below 300 USD"labor and all" by going this route,eh!

are you sure its mm? metric?
i thought our harleys only used standard size?
I went to two dealers in my area to inquire about the IDS installation and neither one had ever heard about it. I had to explain what it is and what it does. One went, "oh yeah, like the vrod!" Because we have so much discussion about IDS on this forum I figured the dealers were completely familiar with it. Not the case. Unfortunately I will need the dealer to install it for me because I'm all thumbs.
