Since a lot of folks are not happy with their 06-07 speakers & such, How about the new 08 stereo's. They say theynow have like 140 or 160watts. Do they sound better? Or are the speakers the problem in the new ones also?
WOW... I must have missed something... HD Web Page still list the HK as a 40 watt & 80 watt in the Ultra - So that would be the same as the '06 & '07 ???

I'm just guessing, but does the fact that the Ultra has the rear speakers have anything to do with the 40/80 watt difference? 40 watts front and 40 watts rear. I'm adding rear speakers to my '08 EGC and I have to have them "turned on" by the dealer, maybe that software change turns on the rear 40 watt amp.
my 08radio, sounds good,, the CD player is awsome.
do I need speakers,, Heck NO!!!!
will I buy some ,, Prob'y!
why??? cause I read this friggin forum,, thats why.
as good as this place is,,, its actually badddddddd!!! lol
My stereo in my 08 Ultra kicks butt. Definately better sound quality over the 06. Leaving mine as is. Might get the aux jumper wireto go between myXM Radio and the HD auxi plug, because I'm tired of re-tuning the FM channels for a clean one.
I am extremely happy with the stero on my 08 Ultra. I still have the stock mufflers but I can't see any problems when I upgrade the exhaust. Believe it or not I plan to leave the sound system stock.
Surprised to hear that people are unhappy with their sound systems. My 2007 SG has a great system for a bike. In fact sounds better than many cars. Harmon Kardon stereo is an excellent product and no issues with speakers here. Cruise at 75MPH and sound is crisp and clear. Stock set up is terrific in my opinion.
The HK stereo on my 08RG sounds great. I was going to put some Hag Tune speakers in it (before I got the bike) but there is no need to. Its fine as is.
While for me the system is loud enough in my 08, the quality is not great. Very narrow frequency response - kinda like AM radio. I may replace the speakers just to get more of the music to come thru although I know there's only so much I can do. I've read the comments about the JBLs, but I'm a little skeptical based on my experience with the quality of JBL sound in the past. I will check them out, though.
My biggest problem with the system has been its reading of MP3 files. I've tried many types of CDRs (even the really good ones) and it doesn't make a difference. Some MP3s will play, some won't even though they all play in my car or on the Mac or PC, regardless of how they are ripped or encoded. Weird...
