Default M/C Air Bag

I see where the 08 Goldwing has an air bag. Watched a video, it seems like a pretty neat idea, would obviously help in front end collisions but not so much on any others. How many think an airbag is a good idea on scoot? (not counting an ex wife)

How about an ejection seat instead?

The ejection seat is the way to go, but I would have to add a parachute for landing.

Honestly, I'm intriqued by the notion. Clearly, it will be effective primarily in head on collisions, but I've known plenty of folks who've collided that way. Lost my uncle in '70 just that way. It's simply safety technology, not unlike ABS. . . .

It won't do much good as you fly over the handlebars unless you're wearing a seatbelt.

I agree with you Chil, it is an intriquing idea. The bag is designed with tethers that anchor to the front of the seat so it does not fly over the handle bars, but rather sits securely on top of the handle bars. Looks likes like it would stop you from eating your windshield.

I agree. It's all about increasing your chances. Safe riding skills, experience, breaks, tires, gear, and such canhelp increase survival where the odds are against you..

I wouldnt say no to having it on my scoot. I would imagine that they did some tests to see if it would stop a rider from simply flying over the top.
