Default IDS new thread with question

I had the dealer install the IDS today. Gone is the 5th gear clatter so I'm (sort of) happy and even though they didn't charge me for the labor, I think $300 plus tax is robbery.

Anyway, here's my question for those of you who installed the IDS yourself. Why would the mechanic have to re-position my shift lever? I have a heel-toe shifter and now after the IDS install, the rear (outside) shift lever is angled way too high compared to the way it was before the job. No biggie really because I plan to fix it tonight when I get home from work but I was just wondering if any of you knew of some weird reason the shift lever would even be removed for this job.

No reason I can think of for him to move it.

Regarding the IDS install by dealer "FREE"...was that something you worked out with the dealer or is this a warranty issue that all SE Ultra owners are entitled too?

Could be that FREE labor wasn't free after all.

Never touched my shift lever during the install. Wonder what happened?

I bet he pulled the primary cover off thinking it went in there. Not surprising at all for a Stealer Tech!!

You know, I thought the same thing but I can't believe a dealer wrench would adjust someones shift levers because it didn't suit him for the test ride. Maybe he thought it was too low and hitting the floorboard or something.
