Ive had a problem with my stereo for too long now. When I ride it buzzes and crackles and basically sounds like ****.When Im still it sounds fine. I thought it was the speakers so I replaced them with Hogtunes. Problem still there. So I call the dealer and explain the problem. They have me bring the bike in and leave it. After a couple of days they say they cant hear the issue(which I knew because its only there when actually moving) but based on my description they think its an internal stereo problem and they are going to replace the stereo. OK fine, it takes them a week to get the new stereo and replace it. I finally get my bike back after being without it over a week and on the way home the problem that I brought it in for starts up again. Now Im pissed but I dont want to be without my bike another week over a stereo problem. So Ive been living with the issue.
Ive replaced the speakers, Ive replaced the stereo, ground connections look good, so by elimination it seems to me that the problem must be somewhere in the interconnect harness. Is this right? am I missing something? Is there anything else left besides the harness? I think I will replace the harness myself and see unless someone here can give me another idea.[:@]
By the way the Hogtunes are excellent speakers.
Sounds like a ground...but if you checked it???
sometimes it appears tight and it may be, but there could be paint or something abstructing solid metal to metal causing an intermitant buzz. wax/WD40 or other residue can cause wierd things.
i have seem some custom jobs on a completely wrong ground location. the only way to elimate ground correctly is to take ground to separate KNOWN ground.
harness could be it to. loose?
Is it just the radio or CD to?
When you upgrade an amp or higher power deck (larger amp output) you need to have a better ground. Harmon/Cardon may be drawing just enough extra juice to cause all the "gremlin" type issues with the radio. The previous stereos will likely not have drawn as much as the H/C.
Electronics are pain to trouble shoot, when your patients are short like mine its even worse...good luck.

I had a problem like this on one of my Glides, can't remember what year bike, but it was in the control switch located under the passenger arm rest. I guess you'd call it the passenger radio control. It was rattling it's self off and on I guess. Only did it while riding, worked good while stoped. Fixed by dealer.
