Before you start, pick-up a couple of the small c-clips; the HD part no. for the clip that attaches the Cruise cable to the throttle will be on the last page of the installation instructions; or, take the one from the kit to an Ace, Home Depot, etc. and buy a couple. These clips are tiny and easily lost when attempting to install. Buying a couple extra is good, cheap, job interruption insurance.
And, a long pair of needle nose pliers is very helpful in attaching the c-clip.
Ditto the brass ferules for the throttle and idle cables. These too are easily lost during dissassembly and reassembly, so having a couple of spares will save time looking on the garage floor or elsewhere if one is dropped.
The cruise lash initialization procedure should be included in the kit's installation instructions, but isn't. It is in the HD Service Manual, and has been posted on here on other cruise installation threads.
Good luck with the install. It was one of the best mods I've done to the bike. It makes the long rides so much more relaxing. But if you're with a group make sure you stay in front... Otherwise as your cruise is worthless as their speed goes up and down the entire way.
Congrats on the installation. I took my first long ride after the installation last month; 600 miles each way, mostly slab, and it was very relaxing to use the cruise (under good conditions, of course). Enjoy.
