Been riding for years but I'm going tomorow to sign off on my first Harley. Found a 2006 FLHP with 550 miles in it. It seems to run great and doesn't have a scratch on it. The only turnoff was the color (white) but the price seemed right. They wanted $14,500 fortwo that were 2006 models and $15,200 for a 2007 with a biggerengine. It has almost 2 years of warranty left and they threw in either free winter storage or a $500 gift card.
I know it's a little late but does this seem like an ok deal? Any downside to a FLHP as opposed to a regular Road King?
Welcome and congrats on the new ride. There are quite a few cop bike owners on this forum, myself included ('04 FLHTPI). The main difference is the electrical switches on the handlebar controls; but, these can be swapped out, cruise control added, etc.
Also, the hockey pucks on the saddlebag lids are easily changed out to pushbutton chrome latches should you want to change.
If you want to do any work on the bike yourself, especially the electrical, buy the '06 Touring model HD Service Manual and the Police Supplement; the latter primarily for the wiring diagrams--or become very good friends with the dealer's service department so they will let you photocopy what you need.
Pretty much any of the accessories that will go on an '06 RK will go on your bike with little if any modification because your bike is a police model.
oops kind of late but, congrats on the police bike. I purposely bought one coz I perferred it over the other models. love the 103" motor. I have enjoyed making mods to personalize my bike. screamin eagle guages, kurakyn rear signal lights, krhomewerks pull back bars, cams, slip ons, iso grips, and much more to come !! It looks a lot different now than in my sig picture. I will post a new one soon. the pic was taken a few days after i bought it !!!!!!! brand new never ridden 07 !!
