Ok, does anyone have any suggestions on how to correctly fuel a road glide or similar? I always seem to overflow the tank, resulting in an embarassing clean-up. I never had this problem before with any other bike. Is it alright to just leave the fuel nozzel in and hope it shuts off on it's own? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Mo1,
All I ever do is jamb that nozzel in as far as it will go ( we have the forskin type around here, aka vapor recovery). Now I admiditly do it wrong, as in I am astride the bike with it straight up. When it shuts off on its own, I round up to the nearest quarter. At about $2.90 per gallon, thats less than .1 gallons extra that I put in after shut off. Never had a problem with spillage or run off if I do itbefore parking it.

PS. The right way, THE SAFE WAY, is to do it on the side stand with you off the bike. That way should anything bad happen; spark, fire, whatever, You can get clear faster.
From the left hand side with the bars straight, on the kickstand, nozzle "just in" the tank hole (kinda wedged in for stability)and as slow as the pump will pump. It will shut off. You will notice gas/bubbles starting to come up the small holes right before you are topped off.
