My cam chain tensioners were replaced under the HD Extended Service Plan a couple of months ago; a new oil pump was installed at the same time also under the ESP due to cam chain tensioner wear/failure.
Read the ESP and familiarize yourself with the covered, uncovered, and excluded coverages. This isn't a lot of reading and you will be confident when you talk to the Service Manager; coverage of problems caused by the cam chain tensioner failure, under the terms of the ESP is a no brainer.

Trying to get preemptive work done is often difficult. Like having an old dead tree hanging over your house and wanting the insurance to pay to take it down; never heard of any result except "wait 'til it falls on the house."
