Default Intermittent Vibration Can't Diagnose

The other day I was cruising at 55 with the cruise on when I noticed a vibration in the whole bike with a minor very subtle low tone noise with the vibration. It would last 5 to 8 seconds and than go away. After another 10 seconds it would come back and do the same thing. Throughout the entire day I experienced this often but not all the time. At first I thought it was road conditions, but it does not matter. The vibration is definitely more noticeable on smooth roads. Inclines or declines don't change the vibration. I also thought that maybe with an incline the cruise would cause more load on the engine causing a vibration, but that's not it. The best way I can explain it is, its like driving a small 4 cylinder car with the air conditioning on. When the compressor kicks in out you could feel it in the engine. I'll be riding smooth as silk and its like someone throws a switch, it vibrates and thansuddenly it stops. Any suggestions would help. The only thing I have new on the bike is 510 cams with Dyna tune. Engine runs strong with no other problems. New tires that were balanced. I had everything checked recently, including motor mounts. All were good.

The first thing to establish is what major rotating mass the vibration is related to. If you pull in the clutch does it go away? Not the wheels/tires; must be the engine. If you hold the clutch in and slowly move the engine speed around does the vibration kick in at just one speed or does it rise and lower with it?

ahhh you found the harmonic "sweet spot" Wheels, tires, bearings, and gyro rotation... all combined with the road surfact type and grade.

Even weather conditions can effect it..
