Will someone please explain the HEAT that everyone is complaining about.I just don't get it. You have an engine sitting right below your nads and you thinkmoco didn't get it right because you feel a little warm love sneeking up on you. Thelast time i checked i am quite sure that if i hung my nads overa water-cooled v8 engine with no wind blowing heat away.... they would be hot. As a matter of fact, if you uncovered the water cooled 6 banger engines hiding behind plastic on some of these other bikes, your nads would be hot.
I believe that anyone who can produce a motor that is air cooled and can stay together while riding in 90 degree temps has done a little something right.
Now the pipe, sert and air cleaner may have helped a bit but, my nads are still going to get hot unlessi got some breeze and deflector shieldsgoing on.
Maybe i will develope some kevlar panties and get rich.....
OK, you found me out.... truth is i am just plain bored and thought i'd have some fun.....[&:][&:]
You'd think that as much as you pay for a Harley they could engineer it so that the heat doesn't fry your nads. After all, most of the metric bikes seem to have the heat under control at half the price.
. . . and put me down for a pair of those kevlar panties, though I prefer boxers. [sm=smiley36.gif]
Oh my gosh how long are youpeople going to gripe about stuff that does not matter................You have a perfectly great motorcycle company here (Harley Davidson) that is trying to survive and keep the legend going. Blow, suck and bang is about to go away here because of the government. You better get on the fast track and get you one of these still air/oil cooled engines while you can. They are trying to fight every way possible to keep from becoming a jap bike. I would say if you can't stand the heat you do not need to be riding the machine, I am sure your wives look at you the same way. I've been in the motorcyle world for 40 years and it keeps getting better every year and I've never rode a jap piece of crap. Grow up while you can and quit the bitchin', the Harley Davidson fine machine is here. Shut up and ride!
Have a hanger on side of rear engine head keeps my coffee hot. Just got to love those add ons.
My wifes vw has cool air blowing into glove box for your 12 oz cans of?
Just ignore it. There is a lot of cheese being served on this forum along with the whine⌠Lots of good information to be had here, just know you need to weed through a lot of BS. No different than any other walk of life really. Some people feel a sense of camaraderie when they band together to complain. My GSXR-750 heats up my nads a whole lot more than my 2007 Street Glide ever has. Ride on my brothers!
Hell, I love my 08 and even though it runs warmer than my 02 RK, hell bigger engine, more gears bound to run hotter and next week, change in pipes to true duals with ovals and SE AC and SERT will help along with switch to synthetic oil.
No complaints here because I love this new ride.
Besides, speaking of nads, I am going for the shaved look as the hairs have been burned off and that saves on waxing...ROFL
Hold them kevlar panties..I am going for Iron Butt and Toasted Nads award. LMAO

The heat most gripe about is in comparision to older models they have owned. My 08 is much hotter than my 02 was, its mostly due to tuning required by the epa, but it still sucks.
monkish, I've posted on this before. Been riding Shovels, EVO's TC88's since the 70's.I now havea 2007ULTRA which runs WAY hotter than any other MOCO bike I've owned. I have NEVER had any EGrun as hot as this TC96". The TC96 WILL and HAS burned thru jeans and that my bud is totally unacceptable.
I don't believe we owners, not looking for performance, need to spend our hard aearned dollars on TUNERS and PIPES to cool down the bikes. I solved the problem by getting the H-D shields, although the RJ Originals are better. The shields work! I added a K & N and had my dealer do the canned (free for me) Stage 1 download, still runs a bit lean, but I have done A/C on all my Harleys. I never like the stock setup.
My temps are pretty stable at 230 degress, they should be under 220 for the latest riding conditions I have had, so they are still a bit high. They will still go to 260 if stuck in traffic, guess I will have to live with it. With the shields I don't feel a fricken thing.
