I thought my '08 EGC had developed a pinging problem but it turns out that it was the forward heat shield clamp rattling. I had installed the Kuryakyn "Bridge the Gap" heat shield. I later decided that the HD $79.95 full heat shield looked better so I installed that a few minutes ago. When I installed the Kury I must have not tightened the top clamp or it worked loose. No more pinging now.

BTW, if anyone needs a like new Kuryakyn "Bridge the Gap" heat shield, I have one that I'll sell for $20 shipped.
