Default Free Labor

I was thinking of ordering an IDS from Zanotti's but before I did I went out to Fargo HD to see what their price was...$305 and they wouldn't deal on the price. I then asked the service department how much labor would be on the install and they said that if I can wait until October 1st HD has free labor on certain parts/installs/fixes and that the IDS was one of the "free labor" items. They said this is a nationwide special that runs from October through March.

I guess if I have to shell out $200 for the part at least the labor will be free. Do you think it will be a problem to get Fargo HD to install the part from Zanotti's?

I guess you would have to see what the fine print says on the free labor offer whether the parts must be purchased from the installing dealer. Did Fargo indicate of it is a promotion or more like a service bulletin? Anyway you can get a list of all the parts that fall under the free labor offer?

Here's what Monstermile posted on 9/26/07 in another thread:

I went to my local dealer yesterday about this. The SM scoured their HD site and could find nothing on it. But he said he will keep checking. Also said if it does happen he would have no problem if I got the IDS somewhere and had them install it labor free. They are getting paid for the labor no matter what anyway.

Here is the link as well: https://www.hdforums.com/fb.asp?m=2257440

Believe it or not...Fargo HD said that the labor would be free on the IDS install, among other things after October 1...I have yet to ask about installing the part if I get it from somewhere else. I am going to go and ask that question today.

So all of you doubters out there that are waving the BS flag about my reply to another post from last week should do what Monstermile did...get off of your ***, get on your bike and visit your nearest Harley dealer. Or if you are too busy flaming people on the HDForums then reach over and pick up the phone and call your nearest Harley dealer...better yet call my nearest Harley dealer at 701-277-1000 and ask for Bill in the Service Department.

It never hurts to ask...the worst that can happen is they say no.

I have physically seen the rebate for from Harley about the free IDS install. There are several other items on the list such as chrome front end, slip on mufflers stage II 103 kit builds etc. It is conditional on purchase from the harley dealer and has to be on the work order that you purchased the part for them to send in the forms to HD (according to the SM).

So basically if you bought it someplace else, it wont be installed for free.

I have an appointment with Jiffy Lube on Monday , I will be taking in my own oil and filter, good thing my appointment its at 10:00 am because Dennys is frying up my bacon and eggs that im taking in from home , the car should be done by noon that way I can take my wife to the hair salon to get her hair done at 1:00 with the perm she bought at Walmart..... apparently some of you need to go in business for yourself and then you might understand that this is unethical !!!!
