My 07 RK came with big ol' weights on both wheels. Dude said the Harley wheels come balanced. One fell off last week. Found it sitting on the floor in my shop. The front has 3 squares and the back has 4 squares. Anyone else have those weights on their stock cast wheels??????????????
I don`t do tomuch work onmy bikes any more except formounting tires. You can get them from a lot of www.placesfor around $100.00and they really are not very difficult to mount. It always seemed like savingeasy money to me.
Too expensive! Shop around. By the way Metzler 880s are great for ride & handling but don't seem to last quite as long. $300.00 would send me right out the door. By the way 2/32 is the minimum that I would ride on.
I had the weights fall of my ultra. There had been 3 of them. I am not sure when they fell off, but I think it was about the 5000 mile mark. I have about 7000 now and have not noticed a difference with the weights off. I am almost due for a new tire anyway. My plan is to order the same Dunlop D402 that it came with. I have no complaints about this tire. I will mount it and balance it my self.
Nujohn, that's about right for a dealer. The local dealer replaced anail caused (rear) flat on my '01 Softail for $301., a screw caused (rear) flat on my '05 EGC for $321. Before the screw-caused flat on the EGC I changed the worn out rear witha new one from Surdyke($147.) delivered, & the local independant shop changed it for $50. All tires were Dunlop O.E.M.s.

Price depends upon if you mount the tire on the rim yourself or have the shop do it, and if the wheel needs to be taken of the bike and put on again. With wire spoke rims I'd do it myself, with alloy wheels take the wheel off and let the dealer mount the tire on the rim. Alloys need extra care to avoid damage. Many tire shops will do free mounting if the rim is off the bike.
If you people are paying more than 1 hour labor...you're getting stroked! There is NOWAY a tire change on a HD should take more time than this. I buy my tires from a local mom & pop shop and I've watched them flipa tire change in 25 minutes.
As for the post about the Dunlop's with the red dot being balanced...not so fast. That dot is put on the tire to indicate the lightest point in the tire so you can line that up with the valve stem. The tire is NOT balanced. If you're not balancing your tires after mounting, you're not getting the best ride.
