Just bought another Road King Classic and was wondering if there is anything one could do about Saddle Bag Scuffs caused by Lazy-legged people who drag their shoe over the saddle bag lid when mounting?
Guess I could spring for $799 new set.............or not.
Try black shoe shine polish. The old fashioned paste type not the liquid type. Wipe and brush them first to remove any dust and dirt. Apply shoeshine paste liberally then buff to a high gloss. Use some sort of top coat like the HD saddle bag dressing and you should be good to go.
I have the same problem with the hard bags on my RK. It seems like every time my wife gets on the back there is a new scuff on the top of one of the bags. [:@]
Thank goodness for Harley Spray Cleaner and Polish
I had the same problem with my hard bags...wife and kids...Bought the bar & shield hard bag lid covers from HD. They are basically a bra for the lid. Saves a lot of heartache when someone scuffs your baby. Also saves me from yelling at the responsible party.
Leather covers might be in my near future as well...when I dumped it a few weeks ago, the bag flopped open and knocked paint off the top of the right one...[:@]

How much trouble are those covers to put on and take off. Sounds like a good idea, but I wouldn't want them on when I take off the passenger pillion and backrest and go solo cruising. [sm=shades.gif]
