Sweeettt!!! You guys are NOT playing fair! Most of my pics are gone....and the few I have left are plain ol' film prints. I've had everything from a 69 Beetle auto-stick, to a Lincoln stretch limo, mostly muscle and old sports cars. I owned an independent dealership for 9 years, so I had lots of toys to play with. Ahhhh, those were the days.....
I always wanted to restore an old car for myself. I have helped buddies with several, but never one of my own. My brother-in-law has a lot of disposable income, so he is always restoring old camaro's. He has owned at least one of every generation. Sure would be nice. And those new '09 Camaro's will have to find it's way to my garage. The wife says she will sell off everything we own to get one, LOL. Now, I just have to get the title for the bike OUT of both of our names, LOL
For me, I have always loved motorcycles. I would love to build one of my own. Unfortunately, I have very little experience with bikes, but I am learning. My Harley was actually a dream come true to me. And slowly I am learning as much as I can about it. that was one of the reasons I got a bike with a carb. Seems to me, if I were to build my own bike, it would have one, so I thought I could learn a bit with my bike. I just wish I had more time to tinker with it. [:@]
I finally figured out that bikes are cheaper and faster! I'd do it all again if I had the time and the money.
I don't kow about bike's being cheaper. A new bike motor is way more exspensive than a new car motor. Unless you get some crazy exotic big block or DOHC. You just have to be willing to do some junk yard crawling for car parts. I used to drive two hours to this huge one just to see what they had. Good times. One time all I picked up was a seat belt, that turned out to be different than my cars. I still havn't found that bike junk yard full of old frames and shovel head motors for me to build a sweet ratty bobber yet. Anyone know where they are?
You guys have some cool toys. 04RK, since you stated it was your dream car, can I assume it's a big block 4 speed '66? Looks like fun.
I've actually been toying with the idea of building an early 60's bug.
Oh yeah that's always been my dream.
I have a BB 454 with everything to rebuild it and a rebuiltT-10 4spd and the car has a 12bolt rear end.The Engine shouldput out right around 475-500HP after it's built. They guy I bought the car from is going to assemble the Engine for $500 and give me a warranty. It's not a SS396 car it's a clone. The SS396 is way way out of my budget.
