Weird, yes... The HD opener could be interfering with the other opener. I remember the instructions saying that sometimes if the HD opener doesn't work together you might try seperating the two. Maybe try moving the HD opener away from the door opener. Try an extension cord (temporarily) and move the HD opener closer to the front of the garage. Apparantly it can be mounted high or low, just need the wire hanging down.
As strange as it sounds, try moving the HD unit and see if it works.Just a suggestion???

yup tried that. It seems that something is interfering with the transmitter when I plug in the headlight. Because it works like it should when the headlamp isn't plugged in!?
Mine sorta works the same way except when all of our vehicles are blocking me form the garage.
I have a regular garage opener in one of my pouches on my windshield. When I get close I push a button and the door opens.
I saw where some guys really got fancy and took the guts out of the remote and glued it inside of the side cover with a ruberrized button to push as you near the garage. Worked pretty well.
Dude ,
It sounds like you have a dead short somewhere, It works with the high beam switch when the headlight isn't plugged in, then doesn't work when you plug the headlamp back on? How did you splice into the wires?
I am in agreement with Opossum on this one. It sounds like a wiring problem.
I have the HD opener and have installed them on a couple of bikes. Most recently an 08 ultra. I think I have the HD instructions somewhere. I will look around and see if I can find them. It is pretty simple to connect.
As memory serves it is:
RED wire to power.BLACK wire to ground. There is a YELLOW and WHITE that parallel the headlight wires.
Ok, so I took the fairing off today and fixed the problem. I have no idea why I didn't double check this.
When I started this project, I took the terminals out of the headlight plug. Don't ask me why I did this because I'm not sure. After I soldered the wires and started putting everything else together I switched the high beam and the ground wires when I put the terminals back into the plug. That's why the transmitter wasn't transmitting when the headlamp was plugged in! So, after all the headaches I learned a few things along the way and saved some money by not paying someone to do this! Even though I took a couple of weeks. Subract last pas couple of weekends it was only a 30 minute install
Thanks for all of the suggestions from everyone. I appreciate it!
