Might seem like a silly question, but..........on the open filter a/c ie wimmer or ness. are they waterproof, seems like I always get stuck in the rain and most of my riding is touring. Is the open filter something to be concerned about when I have to ride in an all day rain?

I've been running an open K&N for almost 4 years , in a toreential downpour you occasionally get a sputter or two, if you are concened about this HD has a chromeround cover than is open on the bottom which is a good comprimise.

I had a Forcewinder on a Sportster in a downpour and it was NOT a nice experience. I imagine on a bagger with the fairings and all, it wouldn't be near as bad. Just food for thought.........

Outerwears and others sell pre-filters - kinda like a shower cap or headband that you can put over your filter if it gets nasty. I keep one in the glovebox just in case - works for washing the bike too

Just put the rain sock (cover) on it if you get caught in a downpour!
