Just watched a report that detailed Denver's new ordinance that allows for $500tickets to be issued to motorcyclists whose pipes exceed 80 decibels (about the same volume as a dial tone). An increasing number of states are taking a stand against loud pipes. I've been thinking that my "mid" baffles on my Rinehart true duals were awful quiet. Guess I should get used to them. . .
I live in the Denver area and haven't had problems yet. I have true dual Rineharts and have had cops come look and compliment the bike when I parked on 15th and Broadway. I think they will leave you alone if you are not being obnoxious. Rineharts seem mild if you're not getting on it hard. I still hope to see an end to this discriminatory law.
. I think they will leave you alone if you are not being obnoxious.
This is exactly what the cops I've talked to have said. They said they got better things to do than hassle someone who isn't causing a problem. If you are causing a problem, this gives them a definitive tool to bust you and make it stick. The old noise ordinances were too subjective and easy to beat. Now if you ain't got the stamp, you're busted.
Don't get me wrong, this new law leaves alot of room for abuse, and I don't like it one little bit. The cops freely admit they will be profiling, and that leads to discriminatory enforcement, and that's not good for anybody.
Some So. California Areas have been doing the same...
TEMECULA (Old Town) - SAN DIEGO - ORANGE COUNTY (mostly the beach area's)... Just to name a few...
Really? I haven't been bothered by any LEOs here in SoCal. I think as others have said if you're minding your own business I doubt they will bother you.
