I have a 2008 SG and would like to know how the DEALER goes about starting up the Sat Nav in the H/K audio system.
Can anyone tell me what needs to be done to get this operational / activated?
The reason I ask is that I own a BMW complete with a same make system along with navigation discs etc.
It seems senseless to pay the dealership for the same disk information that I already own for the BMW if it is easy enough to activate and if the same discs can be used.
Every issue of the discs are serial married to the unit sort of like a SERT. No way I know of to use same discs in two different serialized units. Maybe some otheres may know of a trick around it.
the nav cd is used to program the route. Once you have entered it, you can remove the CD. If you stray too far off course, there will not be enough nav data loaded, so you may have to reload the cd. I run with an IPOD into the aux port, so leave my CD in all the time. I like that the nav commands will mute the music and override, otherwise the Garman Zumo 550 would have been much better cost factor, and it has the mp3 player.
I have the HK radio on the SG...I figure that if I were to pay money over to the dealer then they would 'activate' my hardware and provide some disks of software to use.
My question is how to 'activate' the hardware and then I wonder if it will work with the disks I already have from the BMW
I wonder if you press certain buttons in sequence to 'activate' it etc.
I dont really know and need a HD technician to tell me what really goes on I guess!
