I road tested a new Street Glide with ABS brakes. Not sure what to think of them on good pavement, but could be a real savior on wet or sandy payment. Here is the review for the 2008 Street Glide with ABS Brakes. http://motorcycletestdrive.com/streetglide2008.html Has anybody had any problems with the ABS Brakes?
Only that it took too long to get to the public. Being in law enforcement/criminal justice I have had a vested interested in Harley ABS for a long time.
Just purchased an 08 Ultra SE3, it has the ABSbrakes. They work great, had to make a fast stop while avoiding a turning car, worked great, without the ABS on the rear, I would have slid into another car, a real lifesaver........and they do work!!!!!
I'd like ABS primarily to avoid locking the rear wheel, having the back-end start to come around, and instintively releasing the rear break causing a high side catapult from the bike. Sounds like that's what happened to the guy with the '07 Ultra in thethread about his wreck this past week-endabove.
Wish I had ABS when I got into my accident. I thinkit would have made the difference between me exscaping injury or winding up in the hospital for a month as I did. I applied to much rear brake, the rear end fishtailed, at impact, I let off the brakes andthe rear end straightened itself outwhich thenthrew me off the bike.
WithABS I would have avoided the fishtail and may have even stopped before impact!
