The PC should work just fine with the PC piggy backed in the EFI stream of a dealer-burned ECM Stage I map. In fact, I believe my 2000 road king, which utilizes a PCII (serial interface to computer), is working just that way. Of course that model bike does not utilize the Delphi injection system, but the results the power commander brings to the table are for all intents and purposes, are the same. Other owners on this forum are doing what you are advocating based on some of the posts I have reviewed in the past month. So all that to say that the PCIII does not NEED a stock ECM to do it's thing fooling the ECM into whatever it needs to fool it into to doing. As long as the burn in the ECM has room on either side of most of the data table values to allow the PC room to move. It may need a few tweaks, but I bet a call to the PC people would be worth the dime and diminish any anxiety you might have going forward. Harley's ECM burns are designed to create a somewhat optomized "street legal" bike, all the while utilizing only Harley or Screamin Eagle hardware. They are never out the door with AFR's we prefer, spark advance at the cylinder level, or tweaked out parameters dancing properly with known manifold pressures. Once we start venturing away from the bone stock bikes (as we all do that are eager to learn, sweat, cry, cuss, and ultimatly think "hell ya, it was worth it") with higher volume air flow, header pipes, non-harley mufflers, beefed up cams, etc, etc, then it starts getting interesting. And remember, Im not an expert on anything, just ask my wife. Good luck Steve, Joe
What I may have to do is a little complicated since I live 60 miles from the dealer. I may have to ride it down there with the PCIII installed and then unhook it and hook the 02 sensors back up. Then I can have them do the Stage 1 download. Once I'm home, I can put the PCIII back on. Does that sound practical?
I'm going to take it down next week some time to have the IDS installed for free through the elbow grease program. I called and had them order the IDS and they said it would be around $300 installed. The stage 1 DL should be around $150.
Just got off the phone with Jay at Dynojet. He was very helpful today. I asked him several questions from starting issues to decel pops. I now have a plan. I will be getting my PCIII back on the 15th. That is fast turnaround. I should be up and running early next week.
If you are having PCIII issues, give Jay a call at 1-800-992-4993 extension 1112. He know his stuff. Tell him Steve From Washington State sent you.

That's great Steve.. what did he say to do regarding heat?
I didn't ask him about heat. Now that I installed the Torres kit, AC, and ovals, heat is not as big an issue. Yes, you can still feel it but it isn't nearly as bad. I am looking for a way to keep my wifes boot away from the left side pipe. I'm leaning toward this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...:IT&ih=017
Since I installed the spacer kit for my flooorboards, I haven't burned my boot on the right side. I'm looking at these for me: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...:IT&ih=017
Take care,
Steve
Those heel guards are cool. I don't have the problem.. wife doesn't ride with me and my feet are pretty well behaved and I do use the Soos floorboard extenders.

The Torres conversion kit is similar to the fulsac kit that is so popular here. It turns your exhaust into a "true dual" system. The Torres kit is not cheap however. It consists of 2 new pieces of pipe and 2 heat shields that are all chromed. You can check it our here: http://www.tccbiker.com/
You can buy a V&H dresser duals set-up for just a bit more on Ebay. I got my Torres kit for $260 delivered before the latest price hike. I'm happy with the fit and look.
