Default Battery tender

I have a 2007 Harley Ultra and I will be putting a battery tender on this winter. Does anyone know if I can plug it into an acessory outlet so that I do not have to put it right on the battery? I know that I will have to get an acessory plug to make it work. Can it be done? Any help in the matter?

Generally a fused pigtail gets permanently attached to the battery and gets ziptied near the tranny or elsewhere and then you just plug the tender into that. The small tenders come with the pigtail and a set of alligator clips.

Should already be a battery tender plug on the bike. Mine is in the area where the y pipe is for the exhaust.

Tenders come with a pigtail, attach to the battery and hang it out the right side cover.

I'm pretty sure the ciggarette plug is"switched" (only on when the ignition is on) so it won't work.

ON a side note. Is it safe to start the bike with the tender plugged in?

The accessory plug you are thinking about is key switched so without the ignition on there will be no connection to the battery to charge it.

You can start it but it would max out the charger when cranking it. Over time it may have an effect on the life of the charger.

Your 07 ULTRA, has the pigtail installed. Located on riders right side of bike about 4" above your oil dipstick.

I did not know that. My bike gets ridden enough that I haven't needed one, but that is good to know. What kind of plug does it have?
