New to this forum. Is there anyone running the rear lowering kit on their Ultra Classic? The one that moves the rear shock back and drops the rear 1 ½”.
Do a search here on the forum for "Solow" kits. There are a bunch of members who have used them and like them. They are very well made and the price is good. I'll see if I can find the website for you and I'll send it to you.
I ran the 1.5 inch lowering brackets from TWR on my EG Classic for quite a while and really liked it. Got them on ebay for around $80 if I remember correctly
Used R.U.B. adjustable (2 1\4 - 1 1\4") drop cam....
Worked well @ 1 1\4" drop - BUT - really lost a lot of the ride comfort... Went to Progressives 12" in the rear and these have seemed to work much better even 2 up...
I ran the lowing kit for about a month didn't like the ride went to progressive 11 1/2 412's and was much better dropped the bike about a inch and a half much better....
I run the 1 and a 1/2's on my 95 Ultra classic. Although it did make a small difference I found that having Alan at Mean city cycles re-do my seat was a major improvement in my ability to be flat footed
Now there's an idea. Alan does a great job on the seats. I'd have him word the seat before I made up my mind on the lowering kit.

Hey White Knight...regarding your progressive 11 1/2 412 shock. What would be the difference between that shock and Harley's "short shock". I put the short shock on my 07 Ultra SE, and I think I noticed some drop..but to be honest with you the right shock failed after on 4 months of riding (Harley guarantee only 90 days), so I put the stock shocks back on, and I really don't think I noticed much difference. I am somewhat vertically challanged and would like to lower the bike. Service mgr at dealership totally against the lowering kit, says puts too much pressure on the shocks, ride is terrible, and shock will certainly wear out much faster..(not sure about that statement after only 4 months on the short shock)...anyway, read and heard about progressive and interested. The Harley short shocks were about $275.00. How about cost on the progressive?
