I don't have Microsoft's whatever-it-is-that-does-spreadsheats, but my OpenOffice.org handles them fine. It appears as though the limit is the top four rows for this feature, so if you delete the currently-empty row number 4, then highlight the whole 4th row, you can select to "freeze" that (and those above it) to display in the same place as the page scrolls down. For stuff like this it's not too easy to forget what the column headers were, but it still helps.
