IDS problem
I have one also on my 74 kawi H2,if it's not to hard to do then I'll do it to my 07 RKC myself. Because $300 for the part and $300 for the labor[sm=bs.gif]Are some dealers at least picking up the labor???
Bob,
MSRP is about $300 but most dealers charging an hour to 1.5 hrs labor, around $100 or so. Harley is running the "Elbow grease special" where you get a $100 credit on the labor, so it winds up installed for free in most cases.
So if you do it yourself you still probably come out even after buying any necessary stuff like a 36mm socket, axle grease, belt tension testerand a service manual and then you have the stuff for future projects. You can find the manual online for $45 or so.
If you have a lift and a helper to get the back wheel on it's a piece of cake. I did it for the first time (removed the rear wheel, etc) and not much of a wrench and know it's put back together right.
Good luck, it'll feel like a new bike. It's so quiet now that I need to go get me some slip-ons.[sm=biker2.gif]

I installed mine and yes you should invest in a lift, a service manual and a 36mm socket but these are all tools you will use again and knowing how to take the wheels off when you need to replace tires can save you alot of money. Or with the $100 Elbow Grease credit program at the dealers you can get it installed almost free (no labor).
No matter how it is installed just GET IT DONE. My only problemis winter is quickly approaching and I now have a motorcycle I just don't ever want to get off of.

The Zanotti's delivered price with bearing installed is $237.00. Anyone can buy the part at local dealer for 10% off list which is $274.00. If your local labor rates are approx $100.00 for the install (1.5 hours @ $65.00/hr) the Elbow grease program nets the part plus install to $274.00.You install it for $237.00. Dealer installs it for $274.00. $37.00 difference. Everybody gets to make up their own mind.
I purchased the IDS from Zanottis' before I was aware of the Elbow Grease program and actually wanted to install it myself.
As I said before there are several ways of having itinstalled the important point is to GET IT DONE. The introduction of this component has set backmy purchase of a new Ultra by at least 2 years. My '07 is PERFECT! for now.

The problem is I now know why they are stock on the '08's. I just had one put on my '07 Road King. Very nice. It allows you to shift according to the owners manual without chattering like crazy. It has smothed the bike out very nicely. The problem is the MOCO should step up and put them on all of the '07's. However my guys at Seminole Harley in Sanford did what they could to make me a happy customer. Thanks guys!!

Dream on, It wasn' Ford who knocked Toyota off the most reliable list, it was Honda. I think Harley should replace ALL the Evolution engines with 96" Twin Cams because they run so much smoother.
Dell doesn't give yoou a new computer every time they introduce something new. Just admit you have installed an upgraded part on your 2007 bike and are satisfied with the results.
