Default pluging a tire

Ok guys, quick has anyone ever plug a tire and how long did you run it? The plug is in the dead center of the tread, not the side wall. The dealer say's I need a new tire so what do you guys think?
Thanks

Take it to a tyre repair center and have it pluged on the inside. They will only repair if the caselooksok . It will give you somthing to think aboutnext time your cruising at 70 or 80 mph

Old School.... When you plug a tire you're opening up the hole larger to except the plug.
By doing this you stand a good chance of breaking a cord or two.
Patching it from the inside will stop any air from seeping between the cord bodies which can cause tire seperation.

Pluging car/trucks tires is O.K. in my book, I've done it 100 times with no problems. Pluging or even apply a patch to the inside of a motorcycle tire is crazy if you ask me. Unlike car tires, motorcycle tires don't have the depth of tread to retain a plug.Buy a new tire. Please!

So, if you run over a thorn or small nail your going to buy a new $150 tire? Wow!!!

My buddies and I have been patching them for 30 years now, and run 150 mph on them. I'm still here and most of my bros are. The ones no longer with us were taken out by cagers, not a patched tire. Old Days were tubes of course but tubeless have been around a long time.

I ran a plugged tire on the slower of my two Sportsters at Maxton. It made many passes over 135 MPH. The tire was brand new and I wasn't about to toss it.
