I have 2" Rush slip-on that were easy to install and sound good. Sometimes I get a littledecel pop but not to bad. Check around you can save money, other than the dealership.

I allways thought you could change to any out any exhaust system and not have to do anything as long as you left the stock A/C in...
I know I did that with my 01 FI Softail for the first 8000 miles. Hell I was running V&H Big shots withNO Baffles. It ran pretty good for an 88"er................

After reading all of the posts that state I can install slip-ons 2" and under w/out any mods, I purchased Rush 15301, 1.75 Baffles. Installed them and sounds great, but lots of decel popping, and as one member indicated in a previous post, after decel occasionally on accel,I would get a faint smell of gas.

So, went to shop last night to discuss with tech. He stated that although you can run these under that condition, it would be unknown what the long term effects would be. These engines are so leaned out from EPA regs.

You are limited to the amount of air that can enter through the stock breather, but are also limited to the amount of fuel from the stock ECM settings. With that in mind, I chose to go w/ the HD-SERT, and Stage 1 air breather. Stay w/ Rush 15301 and re-install them prior to taking to dealer. He stated that running for a few hundred miles would not show any long term effects, and knowing what and how I am running it, they would honor any warranty.

With the above said, I am certainly no expert, and the dealer that I use is certainly not the closest, but has the best reputation in this area. Additionally, warranty or not, I respect and appreciate my 20K purchase, and feel more comfortable that for 700.00 , sert, A/C, dowload and dyno run/tuning, I i2wll be a much happier person.

Yes, you can run slipons without any ECM upgrades. Most folks here have done it.
FYI- an occasional pop on decel is fine, but a lot of popping indicates you probably don't have a good seal between the muffler and the pipe. Retighten, or use new clamps and chances are good the popping will go away.

If you decide to add an EFI controller later to help cool the engine down, put a V&H Fuel Pak on there for $200 and be done with it. Easy install and no dyno time required.
