After reading all of the posts that state I can install slip-ons 2" and under w/out any mods, I purchased Rush 15301, 1.75 Baffles. Installed them and sounds great, but lots of decel popping, and as one member indicated in a previous post, after decel occasionally on accel, I would get a faint smell of gas.
I ran my '07 for 1000 miles straight with just Rush 2" slip-ons, everything else unchanged. Since then I've run it that way for a week (several hundred more miles) while my PC-III was getting re-flashed after it was left a brick while reflashing it here and my laptop battery died while doing it. The way the current ECU works this is an excellent and safe thing to do. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again if/when needed.

Probably the reason you smelled a faint wisp of fuel in the condition you mentioned is because while using a left-side muffler that flows as well as the right-side one it'd be possible to get a whiff of fresh air into the left and toward the right through the "crossover", taking it past the rear O2 sensor, which for that moment would indicate an overly-lean condition which the ECU would accommodate and reset the AFV for that cylinder. Then, once you get back on the gas, and for the moment before the AFV gets re-reset there would be a rich condition. Completely harmless, in my opinion.

I never had an issue with decel popping. Not saying it never did it, but it was never loud or offensive if/when it did happen.

So, went to shop last night to discuss with tech. He stated that although you can run these under that condition, it would be unknown what the long term effects would be. These engines are so leaned out from EPA regs.
That statement, especially the last part, indicates to me he either doesn't understand how the new ECU operates or he's prepping you for a sale or something else I guess I wouldn't want to consider.

There's also an element of "FUD" (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt) being deployed. Microsoft used to do it a great deal more than it still does about the upstart, free, operating system GNU/Linux. Now they've mellowed their stance a little and tried to get their system to work more safely and reliably like Linux does. The so-far-not-so-great implementation is known as Vista. Eventually they may get it right

You are limited to the amount of air that can enter through the stock breather, but are also limited to the amount of fuel from the stock ECM settings.
More affirmation for my last statements.

With that in mind, I chose to go w/ the HD-SERT, and Stage 1 air breather. Stay w/ Rush 15301 and re-install them prior to taking to dealer. He stated that running for a few hundred miles would not show any long term effects, and knowing what and how I am running it, they would honor any warranty.
I thought he'd told you he didn't know what the long-term effects might be. Now it'll be okay if you only do it for a little while until he gets more parts sold and installed?

The warranty trump card was also played, I see. That's a game which it might be safer in the long-run to acquiesce to their veiled threats, but it's not much different than buying extended warranties. Sometimes you'll break even, maybe even come out ahead, but most times it just costs you money. If your time is worth something to you, the extra $700 now vs. fighting over something later, even if it's totally unrelated, might well be worth it.

With the above said, I am certainly no expert, and the dealer that I use is certainly not the closest, but has the best reputation in this area. Additionally, warranty or not, I respect and appreciate my 20K purchase, and feel more comfortable that for 700.00 , sert, A/C, dowload and dyno run/tuning, I i2 wll be a much happier person.
And that's the bottom line. You'll feel safer. That's got to be worth a few bucks.

I appreciate your thorough explanation in detail. I will say that I did not feel pressured to purchase the sert from them. I was simply discussing options and recommendations. They never brought up the warranty issue. This dealer is very accomodating to their customers, and they will be very upfront as to warranty. If they cannot stand behind it in some manner, they will tell you they cannot warranty. This is regardless of whether or not you purchased through them. They even suggested I wait until their fall open house atthe end of November so that if I wanted to purchase through them, I could save 20%.

And you are correct, the feeling of a little safety and security goes a long ways. I won't say that this isn't alot to spend. It will be nice to have the dyno run to know what the numbers are. I do not believe that they are extremely concerned with richening the engine up, we discussed that.

and for your $700 your Dealer will be a much happier person.

If all you do is put on a set of mufflers, you don't need the rest. The popping could of been the mufflers weren't tight enough. If they leak at the connection that will definitely cause popping.

New clamps, torqued to 50 ft lbs. Just not happy with the decel popping. might do it with stock pipes but it is restricted to the point that I do not hear it. All I am saying is that as a consumer, I am happy with the service that I have been provided to date.
