Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, I am currently running Rush 2.0 slipons on my 09 Heritage. I would like to go to true duals as I love the balanced look of a pipe under each bag, plus the improvement in tone. Is it possible to use Rush mufflers to do this, and if so, can I use the slipons I already have? I would probably switch to 1.75 baffels, to tone it down just a little. I'm running a SERT so I realize it would have to be re-tuned.
Thanks for the help, this is a great forum!!
I don't believe you can use the rush mufflers you have since the mounts are different. If you check around on here or on ebay for springer mufflers you should be able to get a photo showing the way the mufflers mount. They are essentially mirror images of each other. The actual mounting of whatever mufflers you get will depend on what true dual head pipes you get, unless you get a complete system from one vendor.
You need to figure out what brand of true duals you want to use and call the company and ask them. As far as the mounting I don't know...It is more expensive to get the full system, but it will all line up and bolt right on. Priceless in my book. I like the Samson true duals myself.
I re-read your original post. Although you can't use the rush mufflers you have now, you can use rush mufflers for true duals. This might get a little wordy but....I had a stock 2002 heritage springer dual exhaust on my bike. I put on samson true dual headers and rush staight cut mufflers for true duals. The muffler mounts did not match up with the stock springer muffler mounts so I got a length of flat bar and drilled holes in the right places so I could mount the mufflers on the stock mounts. I found that option easier than using the samson muffler mounts which I had. So, in answer to your question you can use rush mufflers, just might have to fab something like I did. Rush sells a true dual head pipe setup but I was going on a budget and found the samson head pipes used and a deal on the rush mufflers too.
