hi brother...i have a confused thing in my head now...
now i have and ride 06 SG....ita nice ride and i luv it...
since 07 and now 08 bike out at the market....i start thinking to change my bike...i want an Ultra....thinking about comfier bike than SG....
Im torn between 07 and 08 UC.....i really the ABS and brembo fatures on 08.....no other features on 08 that make interest except ABS and brembo....
07 UC will be US$ 42,200
08 UC with ABS is US$ 46,200
there is $4000 difference, its a lot money.....but i want the ABS and brembo on 08....anyone can help me decide which one u will buy..??
ifi buy 07 UC, and use the rest of money to buy ABS and brembo, will it be less or more than $4000..???
i dont care about IDS, ride by wire etc....
please clear me up bro.....really confuse here......
If ur riding long enuff u probably wont need ABS brakes... The 07 has very good brakes without the Brembo's, much better than earlier year Hd's... The IDS is a necessary item on the 07 and can be installed for little $.. If $ is the purchase issue Ide buy the 07 and get the dealer to install the IDS . The 96" motor is worth upgrading and the 6 speed can be used (more) with the IDS. Just my opinion. Riding for 37 years. Riding Hogs for 21 years . Good Luck to ya !
Ok, this is just MY opinion, but...Keep the 06, have a big bore kit installed and maybe Baker 6spd..
I wouldpersonally really think about ten timesbefore buying a first-year ABS or fly-by-wire equipped bike and then would propably not buy one. Yeah, you can always try to fix those on warranty,if problems occur, but after that, good luck...Plusfrom a personal experience, warranty works suck, taking too much time and dealers(or importer here)won´t give a sh*t if you are without a ride fora month or two...Or maybe that only happens here...I would have bought a carb equipped 06SG but here in Finland they are all w/EFI...Don´t really care for a lots of electronic stuff on a bike, too much stuff that you can´t fix yourself(my pan has a carb, points ignition and is so simple that I can almost fix the whole damn thing with my leatherman, I think thats the way bikes should be built...Ok, I admit it, it DOES have aelectronic regulatorinstead of oldstyle regulator..So shoot me.)
thanks for your input so far...
keep them coming man....
for now, i wont hold my 06 SG anymore....i really want to sell it, because of its a carbureted one....honestly, i like my carbureted SG run and sound...but i hate every morning i have tochoke/ have cough if not warm enough to ride....
If you can afford it, go for the 08. HD made some changes from 07 to 08, besides the Brembos and ABS, that help the bike run better, some say the run cooler they already have IDS installed.
In either case you will want to do the Stage 1 upgrades, with better Air Cleaner and EFI management and pipes, so that's an equal.
If you got the money, go for the 08, but if not, hey the 07s a great deal too. Also think about the Electra Glide Classic if you don't need the lowers, CB or cruise.
I went with an EC and got the quick disconnect for the tour-pac.. but the riding comfort of the Electra Glide over the SG and I'm glad I did.
thanks for your input so far...

Ok, BUT read my topic"06 SG problems", and you can find out that there might be some problems ahead w/EFI...But to be honest, w/all my problems w/EFI, I have to say that cold starts and riding in cold weather is superior over carb equipped bike...No coughing or sputtering, it just WORKS. Plus I haven´t heard from anyone else here in Finland about similar problems that I have had, so maybe that EFI is reliable after all...Hope mySG runs okay now, then maybe after a year or two I start to wonder if I could put EFI on my pan...Well, maybe not...
