IMO it's a lot of work for nuttin' and money better spent elsewhere!
Compass...GPS...geez...just get a map from the local info bureau..Just did 2400 miles to Sturgis this summer..c'mon guys get a life! Keep your eyes and mind focused on the road and to hell with these distractions ( that includes chrome on the inner fairing)...what's next, an EPIRB?

I thought of doing the compass install myself to replace the extremely valuable ambient air temp gauge, HOWEVER, after I read and re-read the 8-page installation instructions and figgered I'd need 8 more years of college to understand it and install it...........................I opted to leave the useless air temp gauge in.

Here's a bump for ya anyways.

I find that if I keep turning right at each road I intersect with I end up where I started.

Well the Oil Temp gauge wont be here till next week
So now I put everything back together after I remove the routed wire from the sender,
yes that was fun.
I'll put back in the Valuable Ambient Air Temp gauge. Cause I "need" to drive it this
week.
Anyway. It was fun removing all the parts.
I actually read a thread on here about the gas tank removal to figure out the fuel line
connection to the gas tank.

Thank you guys again!

At least you got "up-front and personal" with your scoot!I commend your efforts, as mostare skeered to even "think" about taking theirbrand new bike apart much less actually do it.

Props to ya![sm=icon_cheers.gif] I would have liked the compass too, but as stated, the instructions took care of that for me. I doubt Aristole and Socrates could conquer this one.

I thought about a compass but then thought again. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west and if that presents a problem I look for a highway sign that says north, etc. My 2 dimensional location finder (map) usually works to get me home if I need help.

By the way, I was born and raised in New Orleans. In some parts of the city, the West Bank is to the east. That ought to give you an idea of my internal compass!

i found after i switched my oil temp gauge for the wonderful air temp gauge, i kinda missed that ol air temp gauge. a compass might be nice but sounds a little to complicated for me.

I would have liked it too. It just didnt work the minute I left the dealership.
I still cant figure out where the sender for the temp gauge is...
Not in the same place as previous years.
Dealers dont have a 08 Service Manual out yet.
