Default Plugin for heated suit

My husband and I have a 07 Ultra it has a plugin hanging out on the right side that the lady at the dealership told me was what I would need to hook up the heated pants and jacket. Well the plugs are not the same. Does anyone know if there is something else I need to purchase to make it work or is that not the right plug.

I just bought my first piece of heated gear, the HD (Gerbings) vest and it came with all of the necessary wiring. I had the gal back at Blackhills HD try and tell me I could just by an adapter and use the plug I already had for my battery tender, NOT. The vest wiring kit to the battery is fused for 15 amps, the battery tender has a 3 amp fuse. Hey, 3 amps or 15 amps, no big deal to some folks.

That plug she showed you was probably for the battery tender. Small flat black rubber plug with 2 brass terminals 1 male and 1 female? I just wired our Ultra the other day. We have Gerbings heated clothes, with the round connector called coax. The power supply wires for them came with the coats. Each coat had a wire about 18 inches long, which went on the battery posts. It has an in line fuse and on the other end it has the round coax connector for the thermostat on the coat. I ran the front wire out from under the front of the seat by the gas tank and the rear one up through the hole for the backrest. Hope this helps. Dan

The older Gerbings gear used a 4 way flat connector. A few years ago, they switch to coaxil. You can get an adapter to mate the two together.

The battery tender connection is only fused on my bike at 7.5 amps. Since the Gerbings come with the battery harness, go ahead and hook up one for rider and the other for the passenger. If you go to vest and gloves and pants, 15amps would not be enough to carry both the rider and passenger. I got the Jacket Liner, and love it. May need the heated gloves someday, but for now, the regular insulated gloves work fine. Jacket Liner, Neck Gaitor, Full coverage Helmet, Insulated Gloves and Chaps worked fine for a morning ride through the mountains at 39 degrees. Felt like it should be fine down below freezing also. Great product.

Look at the Heat-Troller website they do make a conversion plug that will work with the SAE connector that is on your bike for the battery tender. It will make things a lot simpler.......
