Class Action??
Not enough to blister but hot enough not to wear shorts anymore and hot enough to stay away from traffic as much as possible and hot enough to be reminded that its running hot at long stoplights. Called 6 deaership service depts all with the same answer. EPA *****. I read with great interest what everyone writes about this subject and not happy to have to pay 1k for a fix but not mad enough to do anything else but pay for it. Still a kickass machine.
It would seem the MoCo would realize a lot of new riders are going with water cooled metric bikes because of the heat issue. I see no reason to be loyal to the brand when the brand don't seem to reciprocate.
Man, I gotta tellya, my 2000 FLHTCI sure rides great, old technology and all. This Winter plan to add new tires, Lyndall pads, and hopefully gear drives for my cams. Hey, it's a hobby, enjoy working on your scoot and make it your own.
I don't own a 2008 model but I did recently test ride a '08 Ultra. The bike ran great but I couldn't wait to get it back to the stable. It felt real hot even when traveling at 70mph. Although I didn't get burned I sure think it would be possible to raise blisters when stuck in traffic.
First you shouldn't be riding motorcycles with shorts on.
A case of road rash will cure you of that.
who you going to blame EPA or Harley?
Epa sets the regulations for automotive emissions.
Up to the manufacturers to comply.
Only thing is HD is too cheap to do it the right way.
They took the cheap easy way out, increase displacement size
(bigger engines are allowed more emissions) and then lean it out.
And then they make products not legal for street use, and sell them to you
to get the bike to run halfway right.
No matter how much you do to it with after purchase add ons, Any stock goldwing off the show room floor will out pull you and go faster.
And run cooler doing it.
Just doesn't have the classic stylingthat HD has.
But HD has been whipping a dead horse for three + years. And they know it.
They're just milking itfor every drop they can get out of it. And they know
most of you haven't been weaned from the teat and will keep coming back
for more abuse and spend more money with them.
But a liquid cooled is coming. They have no choice.
They already had one in the 70's and they have one now.
It's just to me the frame is butt ugly.
So for all those that think HD is screwing you over on warranty items, and having to spend so much after the fact to get it to run properly, fight back.
Send official letters of your specific complaints to HD and valid complaints to the FTC (you can do it online). Then boycott them. Refuse to buy their overpriced stuff (no bikes, no leather, no upgrades, no chrome, etc).
convince your buddies to do the same.
1 person, 10 people, or 100 people not much will happen. But when it jumps to a 1000 then they will start to listen.
So if you want it to get better, get off your lazy behinds, start making your voice heard where it will do the most good.
BTW those that have the 6 speed, realistically how much time do you actually spend in 6th gear? Other than freeway driving what real advantage is there to it?

Well choochoo, I don't care to write letters. I don't consider these minor issues worthy of complaining about. I am not complaining, i am just telling what i see about my 08 UC. I have the money to do whatever i want i just don't like spending it. Not gonna be working in my 60s. Sure, i can see your point but you missed mine. As for wearing shorts, I have been doing it for years and i don't endorse it i just do it cause i can just like those who ride without helmets. Don't worry bout it. If if was a skiff we would all go rowing and to each his own said the man eating dog sh#t.
I love and use the 6th gear. Don't forget to bitch about IDS. Man choochoo, what do you ride?

I've got a problem with my new RKC and the heat and super quiet muffs
ButI don't blame Harley.
I know it's the EPA and I also know I have to pay the "TAX" to get my bike right.
My only complaint MIGHT surface if my dealer gets in my way after I pay the TAX and make it right.
