I heard a rumor of a class action that is to force HD to address the overheat on the '07's. Supposedly it is to force them to acknowledge the design problem and to retrofit the oil cooler and fan to all '07's.
Seems to me that this would be more than the bandaid patches they are offering in the reprogram (which sounds like crap and stumbles when you crack the throttle...of course, flashing doesn't cost anything.) and make the bike fully useable.
Only from some of the "Nancy's" on this forum. If you want an oil cooler, go buy one. It's an air cooled engine thatmust meet EPA regulations, and it did. Ideal with many, many '08 TC owner's and only a couple really can't stand the heat. They are the same guys that want everything else free.If you are feelingheat that is because the engine is disipating it's heat off ofitself. There is no design flaw. Out of the hundreds of '07-'08's we have sold already NONE havehad any heat related failures. Get out and ride. That will cool you off. JMHO.
HD does offer the EITMS download that shuts off fuel going to the rear cylinder to allow it to cool down when in stop-n-go traffic for a one time deal for free if you want it. Other than that, Gutman has a valid point(s).
I did hear HD is offering a free oil cooler and fan though, but the "tax" is ~$700 bucks![sm=icon_rofl.gif]

It's kind of funny.
In the days when Harleys were crap, we loved them and considered ourselves elite, because we put up with the problems. Now, people complain about truly superior bikes. [sm=WTFsgign.gif]
Guess what? Harleys get hot and idle rough and make noise. [sm=closed.gif]
hey gutman...that does not qualify as a JMHO! Insult noted.... But I'll just consider the source and dismiss the snotty, ignorant comments.
With in exess of 500,000 miles over 4 decades on over 50 bikes I know what I'm talking about. I've put up with crappy bikes over the years but not one of them burned me while riding! The f***ing bike burned the back of my right thigh when I got caught in traffic on I90. Blistered up real nice...maybe you should try it before you mouth off. My '02 Ultra never did that. HD took the cheap way of conforming to EPA standards and simply leaned it out. That makes it a known problem and falls under the catagory of a design flaw. (same to you)
Forget I brought it up. I should have known that I would get the HD macho cult answer. You'd rather ride 40 year old technology with problems, loud pipes and no training than enjoy the ride. (oh, wait....you probably took that as a compliment not an insult.)
Nuf said......continue with your chest pounding.... I find it amusing.
We are riding "old" technology. After we buy these bikes we have to "reverse engineer" them to get them to run better and cooler. That damn right side pipe burned me too so I took the damn thing off! My bike ran too hot so I installed a different air cleaner, mufflers, and PCIII. Now I have a new bike that runs (pollutes) like an old one. It's all about EPA. Thankfully I don't live in CA.

BTW, IMHO, FYI, you all make me LOL.

Apparently you have a defective bike. I'd take it in for warranty work. I rode my '08 for 2000 miles in the 90+ summer heat in St. Louis traffic before I did the Stage 1 stuff. Although it was hot, I never once burned any part of my body. If yours gets hot enough to burn you just riding it, there is something wrong with the bike.
My 2006 Triumph Scrambler ran so lean, to comply with EPA regs,it blued the pipes. Just like classic Triumphs.
The high pipes were so hot my inner calves turned red; despite heat shields.
All in all, a great classic style bike. [sm=biker.gif]
