I have a 2006 Electra Glide with a HD Sundowner seat. I want a solo seat and want it to look great and be comfortable. I hear the Corbin Classic Solo is a good seat. Can anyone out there comment on the Corbin Solo's comfort on long trips compared to the HD Comfort Stitch or Sundowner?
How does it attach since it would not reach the rear fender bolt used to attach the two-ups?
Also, does the heated seat work well?
Funny you should post this at this time.
I have a '06 SG with a sundowner seat. About 3 1/2 weeks ago I ordered a Corbin Classic Solo with Riders backrest through my dealer in order to get an extra 15% discount. I still haven't received it but I'm expecting it any day.
I decided on the Corbin Solo when I was given the opportunity to sit on one that was installed on a RK. Can't wait to see how it feels on my SG.
I'm curious, what pipes do you have on your SG and did they add any additional shake at idle and vibration while cruising compared to stock? The '08's feel so much smoother than my '06. Just wondering.
I can not compare to comfort stich, but my Corbin Classic Solo is a great seat. Long rides are not a problem with this saddle. It attaches without a problem, and fits very well.
Go to their website and it will show you how the seat attaches to your bike.
I like my classic solo too. I ridden many 300+ mile day trips. It's hard at first, but very comfortable. I don't know why, but harder is better for me. I have the backrest too. Never used it though. Sorry, I can only compar it to the stock seat.
I had one on another bike (a metric cruiser) and really likedit. They are VERY FIRM, but believe it or not they are comfortable despite all intial concerns or preconceptions that "squishy and soft" are supposed to be comfortable.
It might take a couple weeks for the seat to conform to your butt however once it does it distributes your weight over a larger area and eliminates "hot spots" that cause numbness that many of the squishy seats cause.
I love my Corbin. I also had one on my RKC and it was great. Rode too many 500 - 600 mile days to count on that seat. Rode from Hollister all the way back to Portland on my RG with the classic solo earlier this summer. Can't remember how many miles it was now, but over 600 iirc.
