Default cams

I amplanning on having cams along with a 103 kit on my 2008 streetglide when it arrives and was wondering if SE255 cams are my best bet. I must use SE because of the warrenty. Thanks for any advice. I have noticed others have used 211 but still unsure which is best.

Mike at Latus HD dyno tested a number of SE cams and the 255 had the best torque numbers, although not the hp winners.
see http://www.latus-harley-davidson.com...13&start=1

I was under the same constraints, and have the 255. It comes on very smooth and has decent power fora baggerapplication. Stay away from the CAT slipons in the full kit , get the motor only kit and then the other SE slip-ons for an all warranty build.

I had a 104/108 95" WG3 before trading it in on my FLHX and the 103 stage II does have the hammer down power , but gets the job done.

When warranty is up the Andrews TW54 /TW32 among others are both candidates along with headwork and a good set of 2 into 1's .

I am staying with stock bore on my 96ci 2007 Roadglide. I am installing Screamin Eagle MCR Heads with compression releases, stock pistons, and .030 cometic head gasket = 10.5:1 cold static compression. I am going with the Woods TW-7H cams. And for tuning, I have a Zipper's ThunderMax Auto-tune. Including the tuner, $2000 for parts. My shop has a dyno and wants to see what this setup will due.
Everyone says to increase displacement. BLAH! Increase flow, let the engine breathe and you will see true increases in power.

Scott,

What is an mcr head?
I think it' highly unlikely that you'll get anywhere close to 10.5:1 with just heads and a gasket. Are you planning to deck the stock jugs to address the fact that you've more than likely got less than zero deck height?

Out of curiousity, since " the dealer wants to see what it will do" are they installing or tuning it for free? I'm really not trying to be a smartass, it just seems like a bad idea to pay to be a guiney pig.

MCR is the -08 Screamin Eagle MANUAL COMPRESSION RELEASE head. If you look in the SE Parts catalog on page 51, it has a chart that shows stock compression of the 96ci at 9.2:1 and 10.3:1 with the MCR heads. I verified with a compression calculator and with a .045 gasket, that also is what I came up with. Using a .030 gasket compression when to 10.5:1

I came up with the idea of keeping the 96 becuase I firmly believe I can get better numbers with heads than displacement. I decided to go with the Woods cam over the HQ because of where I want the power to come on.

As far as my shop, yes I am getting a very fair cost on the installation and I don't need to pay for a tuning since I am using a Zipper's ThunderMax Auto-Tune and I will load the base map at the shop. The shop has a dyno, so if they want to see what is does with the heads and cams, then it's no skin off their back. I am working with 0 deck height until we pull the heads and see. At that time we will decide if it needs to be decked or not.

Don't forget to have the SE heads ported. Out of the box is not optimium!

Cool.... learn something every day! I rekon I got some MCR's then.

I'll be interested to see how it works out. The only Woods cam I have any exp with is the 6, so please do share how it comes out.

I really wasn't trying to be a jerk- I just had to work all night.
