Default RoadKing Screen Security

I got fed up with those stupid clips which are meant to secure the screen. They have never worked properly and only seem to be there to scratch the chrome.

Well yesterday I just took em off, clips, acorn nuts and all.

I now use a clear zip tie through one of the now redundant holes in the screen bracket and around the bracket and support, on one side only. Hardly notices, actually looks neater IMO, and is secure. If I need to remove the screen I'll just cut the tie and use another if I put it back.

Just thought I'd share, its a simple idea but it only dawned on me yesterday.

Mine have worked like a charm, but I'd be curious to see what you did.

I've never understood why those clips were even put on there. I have never had to pull them up to take the w/s off. I just pull it forward and then upward and it's off.

Same here. So far, I haven't gone fast enough in reverse to worry about the thing blowing off.

Your windshield can come off in reverse, while parked. If your windshield pulls off easily, go back and snug down the acorn nuts. I had my windshield BLOW OFF at a desert passviewpoint from a 50 mph gust while parked and go skidding across a parking lot into a low rock wall. It wasn't pretty, gouged brackets and scratchedLexan, and I had to ride for quite a spell before getting another $$$ one off Ebay. Now I keep those top acorn nuts Gute-N-Tite!

Same with me but after what Firetender said, I'll re-think the situation. Thanks.
