OK changing the fluids this weekend. I’ve only been on this forum for about two weeks since knee surgery. I have learned more about my bike by reading the service manual and reading this forum. I’m amazed how much knowledge is out there, all you have to do is ask and you guys reply in minutes. So this weekend after asking I’m changing my motor oil to Mobil 1 V twin 20/50, trans to Redline Heavy Shockproof, primary to Redline MTL, and oil filter Purolator PL10241 painted black. After that my 05 Ultra will be transformed
I have also learned a great deal by reading here. I also follow the service manual step by step as I am doing anything, just to cover all bases. The folks here on the forum are a great asset to have along with the manual.
For my '05 Ultra, I use Mobil V-Twin 20/50, Shockproof Heavy and MTL!!!
Do yourself a favor - get all new gaskets for your drains/covers.
Dumb *** me reused the existing gaskets and have a couple very slow, drop a day leaks!!!
Heck, get a couple extra of the two types of o rings you need. You will need two of the black (get four, IMO.) and one of the brown (get two, IMO.) Trust me, it sucks to have a leak, even if it is a tiny one. I fubar'd my primary o ring. I had to go buy another (got two this time), and, I had to get some more fluid. I, at first, filled it will Amsoil 20w-50. After the leak, I drained it out, and put in formula +. I wasted ten bucks on the Amsoil [:@]. Plus, with the primary, you don't need a high dollar sythetic. Formula + is just fine, and about half the cost. Heck, I bought two bottles of it, just in case. JMHO
