Default Headset cord plug

Today the cord plug from the HD supplied headset (for my Ultra), worked itself loose from the helmet connection, fell out,and managed to scratch the finish on the tank. %$@#!!!Why can't they make these bleepingcords with a twist-lock type connector? The cord is pretty short and stiff, as it is, and I guess the movement of the helmet (looking sideways, head checks, etc), works the connector loose. Are the J&M headset connectors better?

That is why the J&M are a much better system, they have a bit longer cords that give you more room to move around without yanking the cord out. Why would HD want to make an improvement that would cost them $ ??

To bad J&M didn't make a longer cord that would work on the HD headsets Hate to spend the money on a whole new setup when it all works except for this!!! Well this week I am placing an order with Mouser for a few things I'm going ro p/u 2 plugs and the cord and make a longer one myself see what happens!!

Thar's another string in which folks are claimin' what you describe "doesn't happen". Go news fer ya - lengthen the cord all ya want, it's still gonna put pressure on an' yank it out again sooner or later. Save yerself the headache an' get the J&M's.....

Mine was falling out often as well. I was going to use some Gorilla Glue but then didn't think that would be good.

So I use a rubber band to hold it together.

Go figure!

I've gotten in the habit of pushing on the plug every time I put on my helmet. You can also stretch the cord at that time.[8D]

Because when your head and body separate from the bike you want the helmet to stay with your head and not the bike.

Just a tip for securing cord to helmet. Take a 2 inch piece of black tape and wrap around the cord and connector, sort of half on the cord and half on the helment connection...It works for me...Bldr
