jskwarek - CONGRATS on your yuppie status! Your bike is awesome.
jjsg77 - If jskwarek is a yuppie, I must be a yuppie too. I do all my own work so....guess I am yuppie with a little grease under my nails. I have a book suggestion, "How to Win Friends and Influence People". An apology might be an appropriate first step.
I was away from my computer for a while, and didn't realize I had started a war, and had also been upgraded from a RUB to a Yuppie.
JJSG,
Yea I do pretty well for myself but am far from a Yuppie, I got lucky with computers (was in the right place at the right time, and programming comes naturally to me). I do all of my own work, am very proud of my bikes, and know no better way of sharing information about a build then showing someone how to do it via pictures therefore I document just about everything that I do.
I have belong to many many different car / bike clubs and fourms, and you know they all have people like you. As fish pointed out I was only jerking your chain and was trying to point out that this topic has been covered in depth many many times. If you would just try and help yourself by search instead of just rehashing the same things again. If you don't want to take the time to do that then I am sorry there is nothing I nor anyone on this forum can do for you.

Jeff
Jeff,
Very well said! Learning the ropes of any forum takes time! Prior to jumping in to ask questions or making really dumb statements newbies need to read a bit and see what is said or asked. I am new to this forum, but like you I have been with other car clubs, bike clubs for many years. I am a little easy on some neophites because we were all once them. I only have a personal issue when personal attacks are involved and the other party really does not know the other person. I appreciate your posts, pictures and personal thoughts on any build.
JJSG, search for the posts on the subject first and then ask if nothing pops up. There are people on this forum who will help steer you in the right direction. And from what I have read of Jeff's posts he is one of those who will!
i apologize for the comments made. it just gets a little shitty when your lookn for help and people jump at you with remarks. i shouldn't have judged like that, i was wrong.the search didnt show me any results that i was lookn for as far as a direct answers go. sometimes nice to get direct feedback from people who have done the mods and can tell you what products work and helpful tips, that's all i was lookn for.
No worries John, one of the problems with the internet is that you can not pass emotion very well when you type. I apologize as well if I came across as an A$$, I am at times, but that was not my intent with my original post here.If you have specific questions I can help out and I am sure the guys and gals would be happy to help out as well. The short is that you can put a 21 inch wheel up front on a touring bike, some people do not have to do anything at all, but most have to slot the rear mounting hole a bit and tilt the fender forward for clearance. The best thing and easiest thing to do is take a 5/16 nut and tape it to your tire in the center then run it around to see if it clears if it does you should be OK with good tires (i.e. Metzlers or AVON) that do not expand vertically all that much.I and several others run a 21 up front and an 18 out back, I lowered the front an inch and a half (used the HD progressive lowering kit) to bring the bike back down to the stock ride height out front, and as far as ride goes I can't tell a huge difference unless I hit a big pot hole or something. But keep in mind that I did forward controls suspension and a bunch of other stuff at the same time as I did the wheels so I am not the best person to as about the difference in ride after the upgrade as everything on my bike affected my ride in different ways so it is hard to tell what is what some times. This is something that you can do yourself in your garage with simple hand tools and a torque wrench (ALWAYS I REPEAT ALWAYS torque everything on your bike to the HD specs in your service manual) and a couple of hours the first time. After that you can pop the wheels off and on in no time at all with out even thinking about it.Jeff
PS You will also need some blue lock tight and some anti-seize when you swap your wheels. Put anti-seize on the axles when you remove and replace them, and a good rule of thumb is put Blue Lock Tight on any bolt that you remove and replace that you may service again in the future.

Good on you man. I look forward to hearing how your wheel swap goes.
