Why would you want to buy a water cooled Harley or have Harley start building water cooled bikes? Something should have given it away that they were air cooled before you bought it. If you don't like them that way go buy something else. My bike looks like all of the Electra Glides before it and two years after it. If you can't stand the heat, the vibration, the rumble, the clatter, the brakes, and everything thing else that makes these great bikes a Harley you need to go see your doctor about some testosterone booster or sell your Harley and buy yourself a new Beetle and stick some of those f@cking flower stickers on it!

EVOrider mentioned the Harley Nova project. Rider magazine did a feature article a couple years back when when one was found. Harley's finances at the time prevented it from coming to market, with the money going to the EVO program instead.

The link I had is now dead, but here's the picture.

When comparing Harley's of similar size, they outperform the aircooled Yamaha's, with the exception of the Warrior. See the thread I did on this ....

As you can see, when you compare "apples to apples," in this case, V-Twins of
comparable size and weight, Harley has done a fine job in keeping up, in fact,
is leading the competition in performance, with the exception of the
Yamaha Warrior vs the TC88 softail.

You go right ahead and wait. In the mean time, I'll be riding.
I agree ride now. But it might be more enjoyable if the two wheels are on the road.....[sm=biker2.gif]

I'm sure water cooled engines are coming no matter how we all feel. Where I get confused is I haven't seen much on the 103 Screaming Eagle motors running hot like the 96, so this tells me it is a design issue. S&S and Revtec are producing bigger engines without this problem again design issue. I own a Road King Classic, 2006 with no heat issues, I rented a 2007 Electra Glide this spring and couldn't believe how much heat the rear cylinder pumped out, dam near cook my inner thighs at traffic lights. Will HD fix all of the problems, most likely but what about the guys that bought the earlier versions? Anybody have feedback on the 2008 for the heat issue?

Look up for one of my posts with a link to a V-ROD forum. Since they got closed-loop systems for '08 the guys are complaining about the excessive heat. All those other big air-cooled v-twins that other companies are making which don't have the heat "issues", are they open- or closed-loop EFI systems?
