Another vote for the Classic. I seldom ride 2-up and I had the Cruise added as part of the deal. I also did not like the look of the massive lowers, or the restriction of wind flow. The soft lowers work better for my style of riding. The CB, rear speakers, etc. are of no value to me. I saved no money, however, since I've already spent the difference (+ some) on bling that I chose to add!
Ultra... I should have bought one instead of the Street Glide.
Lowers are awesome....I have the removable tourpack and have only had if off once. I like the storage too much to think about taking it off again.
Ultra....I like having the top of the line....there isn't a more loaded model that I "could have gotten". I really like the lowers, on the 08s there is enough ajdustment available to allow some air through to you and the engine. And, call me crazy, but I really like the looks of the twin whip antennas.
I vote for the Ultra. I like the cruise control and just started using the communication set up with the helmet speakers...I do not use the CB.....I'm already a dirty old man, so next step is being a geezer since I have the glide.....
Good luck....
I was thinking the same thing. A friend who had the same dilemna got the Ultra and was glad he did. I did the same thing and I'm glad I got the Ultra. Why not pay a little extra and get all the goodies? On the other hand, if you've really thought about it and don't want the extra stuff, by all means get the Classic. I've ridden the Standard and missed too much of the extras that came on mine, so at the least I'd get the Classic. I use all the storage space. It's amazing all the stuff you can fit in your bike after going to the supermarket. If you ride in cold, crappy weather like I do, you will really appreciate the lowers (as ugly as they are). I really noticed the difference when riding the Standard.
This has been debated on here more times than Hilary and Obama...
It is easier to take off what you dont want than it is to buy all those extras, I strip my Ultra down in the summer for riding no tour pac, no lowers and love the ride, when I take a long drive to a rally or when the wife doesnt want to ride herown and ride with me, I take 15 min and put them back one.
Thank for the replies....and my apologies for bringing up an old topic. The one I'm looking at is on $1000 less than the Ultras. It has several things already added....cruise, CB, ABS, etc. I'm really drawn to the Crimson Red Sunglo color.
My wife wants a black bike. I already have a black Street Bob, she has a black SUV, I have a white SUV, and my daughter a gray car. We need some color dammit!
