true duals or not ?
How much difference does the PCIII and true dual headers make? I already have the Stage I download, VH slash cuts, and SE air cleaner.
1) Trashed (literally) stock mufflers, replaced with used (cause I'm a cheapa$$) Supertrapps with internal discs (19/18).....at appr. 200 miles
Results: Much better sound than stock....didn't sound like a sewing machine
2) Trashed stock head pipes, replaced with V&H duals....at appr. 500 miles
Results: Improved sound (stereo instead of mono)...increased sound level a little, didn't notice losing anything down low (loss of torque)
3) Trashed stock airfilter and replaced with SE air filter, installed PCIII USB....at appr. 1000 miles
Results: Greatly (subjective, yes I know) improved sound, throttle response, and overall "yee-haw" appeal lol
4) Gutted Supertrapps, removed all discs, stripped out what little packing was left (edit...at appr. 7000 miles)
Results: Now THIS is what a Harley should sound like (again, IMO)....and yes, I have no problem listening to the stereo at most anytime (specifically, cruising 70-80 on the freeway)
Bottom Line: The true duals sound and look AMAZING!! The stock headpipe and 2-1 system PERFORMS!!
I am suprised more people have not brought up the huge loss in low in tq.
My questions are...
[ul][*]Is it worth the cost of true duals for the heat issue? My main concern is getting rid of the heat.[*]Can I still use the SE slip-ons? ( I like the sound) Dont really want to buy new mufflers yet.[*]SERT or PC III? (considering warranty issues) I have no idea which way to go. Seems it's a "6 one way...half-dozen the other"[/ul]
The bike moves plenty fast for me. IM not sure I even know what Im asking here...so I'd appreciate any and all comments.
Thanks in advance....

Using the same mufflers it will be just a bit louder.
I think you are spending too much at $650.00. You can get the pipes shipped from various vendors for right at $300.00. Bolting them on is an easy job. Do it yourself. Then, retune if necessary.
