strokers aren't any hotter than stockers. air fuel ratios, exhaust, oil coolers help to keep an engine cool.

Why oh why are my hobbies so darned expensive?

Newb question again, but would my crank be just as durable pinned and balanced by Darkhorse vs. having to buy a new one? Durable in a sense that the metal makeup of a stock stroker crank like the ones in the '07's are compatible with the big name brands like Jims et al?

You have to change the stroke to get to the big displacement motors so you will need a crank any way .

That would be a question best posed to John @ DarkHorse. I know he can set your crank up "just right" for the 113" build, but I do not believe he can for the 120 ~ at least not economically. Dalton can answer that one ~ he had originally looked at sending his stock unit in for re-work and ended up going with the Jim's instead. I went with the Jim's initially, because my 05 crank is 4" stroke.

Darren: I'd suggest you contact Doug at HQ and John at Dark Horse and ask them for their recommendations depending on the build you select.

Thanks Josh, Carl, and Phil as well as others...........I failed to realize the stock stroke on an '07 is 4 3/8" vs. what is needed on the 120" that being 4 5/8".[&:]

Phil M is correct. No engine should blow up. With the exception of part failures. If the proper combination, clearences/tolerences are built into it, the reliability will be no less than stock. Engine failures happen from builders / owners pushing these measures to increase compression or reduce friction, drag to a point that clearences are overlooked or not capable of being achieved. the power will be there, but longevity is gone. A reputable builder with attention to details and conservative measures win out every time. I have a 120" engine with 131 foot pound and 128 horse that has 15,000 miles on it and has only had regular maintenace. Fluid changes and 1 plug change. I have had no failures or even (knock on wood) a leak since my guy assembled. I know that displacement of engine is capable of more, but how much do you like working on it?

Let me say that I thank all that replied thus far. I wanted to say this to you guys as I have read and appreciate ALL responses. This is exactly why I threw this question out there, for feedback from the experienced.

Now, can I borrow $6 grand? How much are kidneys going for these days?
