Default Touch Up Paint

So there I was, changeing out a passing lamp and being extra careful to do a good job when somehow I dropped the dang screwdriver and it nicked the front fender. I know, I should have protected areas below with a blanket or something, but hindsight is great.

Anway, I need to touch up the spot since it's down to primer. I've never noticed paint at the dealer, but never looked for it either. Where's the best place to get touch up paint?

Your dealer will have it, or at least used to have it. Since your bike is a 2000, he may have to order it if it is still available. For about 8 bucks, you will get a teeny, tiny little bottle that will be like water when you first open it up and then dry out in about 6 months.

I've posted this link several times. Hope this gets the word out. Great place to get everything you need for touch up or complete paint job. Check it out and let us know how they treat you.

Thanks everyone for the great info. I've always wondered where to get this stuff, although I was hoping I'd never have to.

HD sells touch-up paint as a part no. you can use to order from Zanotti's, Chicago HD, etc. The part no. is 89601 followed by the color suffix. So Pearl Black is 98601BRD; Black Cherry Pearl if 98601BPS; and so on.

You can find the color suffix in the HD catalog by checking for your color in the tour pak and fairing lower sections; HD website probably has the same information.

If you want aerosol cans, the same procedure only the part no. is 98606 with the color code suffix.

Yeah, Harleypingman, it gets confusing. I've been looking on the sites listed above and I thought my bike was Brandywine, but according to sites for myyear modelit must be Luxury Rich Red. Of course, I have to have a paint that has no code -- says factory color code: none, so I'dprobably need to call to see what's available.

If it is not in a real noticeable area, go to your local store and look for a ladies nail polish that is real close. I have done this trick for custom paints, and it works real well, and is durable as all get out. If in a real conspicuous area, well, see if you can,t get the HD paint.

Wow, Dalton, never even crossed my mind. I've just got a small spot to patch. Reckon my local Walgreens will let me ride the bike down the nail polish aisle to match it? LOL.
