Default lowering a RK custom.......

hello,I've been a member for a while but this is my first post. I have 2 questions for all the owners of RK's have any of you ever lowered a custom( front hd lower springs and tricky air ride for the rear). this is my winter plan but was wondering if there would be any clearance issues up front.I heard the upper covers can hit the fender mounts if to low.On a totally different subject does any know if the HD saddlebag fillers would fit on a custom?

Well, ya know our bikes are already lowered in the rear. I have seen others that have done what you are talking about, but have not done it, myself. The key, I would think, is to not try and lower it to much, in the front. But, again, I don't know.

As far as the saddlebag fillers, yes they will work. But, before you do that, think about the color matched SG filler, with the tri light on the bottom of the fender. It looks awesome, and is less than $200 for the parts. It can be easily done with our rk custom, and the RG, since they have a clean rear fender. RKC owners have issues with filling the holes. There have been a lot of post recently about this mod. Try the search feature, and you will find them. Harleypigman has the info you need on this filler install.

RK Custom is already 1" lower then the Standard RK... Lowering the shock - lowers the shock travel and will make for a lot stiffer ride...
If you want to do it right.... Find a GOOD AIR RIDE SYSTEM for the rear (they don't come cheap - but in the long run will be worth it) and you can change out the ft springs with progressive lowering kit they have a dual compression ft spring 1 1\4" drop...

papatravisThanks for the ideal about theSG filler. but that wont work for me since i put a custom "streetsweeper" fenders on about six months before they came out with the SG's. Any one have any suggestions on the best air ride for touring models?
