I bought my sears red jack back in 2002 so far it has worked for me great. It has outlasted four harleys so far and wo[sm=bounceybounce.gif][sm=bounceybounce.gif]rking on the fifth....
Just picked one up on MOnday - didn't even know about the sale - none on the shelf but they had some out back. Took maybe 10 minutes to assemble and put my EGC on it that night. Nice jack with the 3 locking heights and slow lowering. Also moved the bike by myself no problem. Sturdy. This is my first, so I have no point of comparison. I did read reviews on the product at Sears.com, and it seems the biggest beef was the jack failing after a year or so and no replacement parts, but then others said it worked fine for years. I think for $60 this is a good deal.
I bought one of the "Red Jacks" Thursday Sears had them back on sale for $59. I don't know whats up with Sears they put them on sale Friday and Saturday. I go to get one on Sunday and they're no longer on sale. After dinner Thursday I pull up their web-site and they're back on sale Thursday and Friday only. Their S&M people must be using the Hokey-Pokey marketing method. Hey, it worked it got me in their store twice!!!
Anyway, it's well made, easy to assemble just bolt the bottle jack on,two pedalsand a handle. I like the locking positions as they eliminate the need for jack stands, at least for short duration jobs that tie up your lift. I used it when I got it home to lift the front of my John Deere garden tractor that had a punctured tire. It works very smoothly, rolls well on concrete, and lowers very slowly. It won't roll under my stock EGC but it will if I restthe jiffy stand on something of a 2x4 thickness. It's close maybe 1/4" from sliding under. I'll mostly use it for maintenance and cleaning and I'm convinced it will work very well.
I had a Sears red jack for nearly 15 years and jacked it up and down 3 or 4 times a week. Finally started making too much noise and I got rid of it.....................................Wait,.....n o sorry, that was my ex-wife.
I have a Sears red jack also, for 6 years it has lifted everyhing from BMW to Honda Wings, no problem's.
If you buy one spray the entire jack with BoeShield T-9, and you can use it for washing without it getting rusty, mine looks like the day I bought it.
